I agree with @Vancouver web design. I tried Raven and Live Writer, and liked raven a million times more.
Raven is nice; it feels like an email application like thunderbird or outlook, showing me all my existing content, and indicating which of it is drafts, etc.
It totally works well for the “I’m going on an offline trip and want to have my blogs’ content to read, reference, and edit”.
Just don’t be a noob like me and forget to enable XML-RPC in WP Settings >> Writing.
